Easter Holidays

Posted on Thursday, March 25, 2021

Dear Parent/Guardian,
Tomorrow at 12pm we will close for our Easter holidays.
It is hard to comprehend the term we have put in. We had months of online learning followed by two and four weeks of school learning. Children are tired, teachers are tired and this break is well needed!
For these weeks in school we had to really focus on getting the pupils back into the school routine, sharing, taking turns and listening.  Our hope is that next term we can focus on the acadmenic and cover the curriculum.   We must not forget that this time last year we were all at home so we are also catching up on all the topics missed then.
The reality is, we are in a pandemic and we are all doing our best.  The children get more attention at home and it is difficult for them to adjust back to the classroom and sharing the teachers time. There was a lot more screen-time due to being inside so much and that does affect everyone's mood, especially children.   Learning through a screen is not the same as being in the classroom and while the children worked really hard at home, they might not have understood what they were doing as well as when they're in school. We have to achnowledge this and know that every school is experiencing the same.
There are a series of webinars by Galway Sports Partnership that you might find helpful as a parent. link here
We are hoping and praying that we will all return to school after Easter.  There is a concern that the numbers are remaining quite high and talk that schools might not reopen.  All we can do is play our part and stick to the guidelines.  We are sending the school books home with the children just in case.
I will be texting parents on Sunday 11th April with the link to the Return to Education form which must be filled out again on return to school.
Wishing all our families a happy, safe and restful Easter,
Kind regards,
Éilis Treacy
Principal
